Some students arrive playing advanced repertoire without having studied technique in a systematic way. The course identifies and fills those gaps without discarding what is already secure.
You do not need to read music to begin. Scales, chords, arpeggios, and other keyboard patterns are learned through demonstration, listening, and physical practice at the piano.
Progress is structured. Students move level by level through the Royal Conservatory of Music curriculum, building the keyboard patterns they need to recognize and learn music more efficiently.
The work happens online, behind the scenes of private lessons or as independent study. Submit each assignment when it is ready and receive individual feedback before continuing.
Work through the next demonstration, explanation, and supporting course materials.
Build the pattern in your hands and ears at the piano.
Send completed work without waiting for a weekly meeting.
Receive specific feedback, revise when needed, and continue.
Every student receives individual feedback. How support is delivered depends on whether the course is part of Adult Lessons or taken independently.
Included with Adult Lessons
Course access, assignments, and feedback are included. Technical work connects with the student’s repertoire, leaving more lesson time for interpretation, sound, and musical problem-solving.
Independent course enrollment
Study online at your pace, receive feedback on every assignment, schedule one 15-minute diagnostic check-in each month, and complete a technical exam at the end of each level.
Customized for specific goals. Students preparing for an RCM or ABRSM exam, or a college piano proficiency exam, receive a customized roadmap around the required technical skills.
Dr. Monique’s musical education began in the Russian school of piano playing, where technique and musicality were developed side by side. Systematic work in scales, chords, arpeggios, and the patterns beneath repertoire gave her a foundation in her hands and ears that later supported her performance career.
Musical Foundations carries that experience forward. Students first learn technical patterns through demonstration, sound, and physical practice at the keyboard, without needing to read a score. The aim is a dependable base they can use to learn repertoire more efficiently and play with greater security.
