Explore Adult Lessons →New adult students begin with a free fifteen-minute call. If the studio appears to be a good fit, the next step is a paid Consultation and Assessment. After reviewing Monique’s written recommendations, you decide whether to enroll for a semester.
Phone or video · No lesson · No commitment
A short conversation about what you are looking for, where you are coming from musically, and whether the studio is likely to be a good fit.
You do not need to prepare anything. Monique will ask about your musical background, what brings you to the piano now, and what you hope to do with your study.
The call may lead to booking the Consultation and Assessment, deciding that the studio is not the right fit, or taking time to think. Monique also explains current tuition options and the expected semester commitment before you decide whether to book the paid assessment.
Paid session · 45-minute lesson and assessment · Time afterward for questions
This is a real working session. Its purpose is to understand where your foundation currently stands and what the first period of study should address.
If you already play, bring music you have been working on or pieces that show your current level. If you are beginning from the start, you and Monique work at the keyboard together. The assessment looks across the four areas used throughout the studio: Technique, Reading, Theory, and Musicianship.
The Consultation and Assessment is a paid session and is required for new students. Its booking link is sent after the free call, once you have had the opportunity to ask questions and hear the current tuition options.
The written assessment
It records what Monique heard, where your foundation currently stands, and what she recommends addressing first. It is a professional diagnostic you can keep, whether or not you decide to enroll.
“She is incredibly perceptive of students’ ability levels and areas for improvement, which she uses to tailor lessons to their needs.”
Enrollment is still your decision. After reading the assessment, you may enroll for the semester, decide not to continue, or take time to consider the recommendation.
Structured study · Individual lessons · Group work · Performance
If you decide to enroll, the assessment becomes the starting point for a semester built around the work you actually need.
A standard semester runs sixteen weeks. Individual lessons are thirty, forty-five, or sixty minutes; the appropriate length depends on your current level and the amount of work you want to carry each week.
Semester study combines weekly individual lessons with Musical Foundations work, two group classes, and an end-of-term recital. A post-recital reflection helps you review what changed and consider the direction of future study.
