Designed for adult learners

You can begin from anywhere.

You may be returning after years away, beginning for the first time, building on self-taught experience, or bringing knowledge from another instrument. What matters most is the desire to study with care and continuity.

The adult program

The parts of study work together.

This is more than a series of weekly appointments. Each part of the semester has a distinct role in helping you become a more capable, independent musician.

01

Weekly individual lessons

One-to-one teaching shaped around your level, repertoire, musical interests, and the work that will help you move forward.

02

Musical Foundations

Ongoing work in technique, reading, theory, and musicianship supports what happens in private lessons and builds independence beyond them.

03

Two group classes and recital

Shared learning and performance experiences that create perspective, community, and meaningful goals during the term.

04

Reflection and next goals

Time to recognize what changed, clarify what comes next, and keep the work connected to the pianist you want to become.

Beauty belongs in the week, too.

For many students, piano becomes a break from work, responsibility, screens, and constant problem-solving. It is time spent listening closely, making something, and giving attention to beauty for its own sake.

The teaching remains structured, but it is not impersonal. Repertoire, pace, and expectations can respond to changing seasons of adult life. Over time, Monique comes to know the person at the piano, not only the pieces on the music stand.

Personal direction

Goals that belong to your musical life.

Clear goals give the semester direction while leaving room for curiosity, discovery, and growth.

“Returning to piano as an adult after many years away has been both rewarding and challenging, and my goal-setting session with Dr. Monique helped me put that journey into perspective. I had the privilege of studying with her several years ago and was thrilled to return to her studio when I decided to resume playing. She took the time to understand both my musical background and my aspirations for this new chapter of learning. Together, we identified meaningful, achievable goals that reflect my love of music and my desire to keep growing as a pianist. Her insight, encouragement, and genuine investment in my progress left me feeling motivated, focused, and excited about what lies ahead. I am grateful for her ability to create a personalized learning experience that honors my past experiences while inspiring future growth.”
